We have been given three layout plans of a café, reflecting what it looked like a decade ago, five years ago and its present floor plan.

Overall, it is evident that the café has significantly expanded both the indoor and outdoor seating areas while retaining all the trees bordering its compound.

Examining the layouts in detail, a decade ago, there was a park to the left of the entrance and a terrace to the right at the center, leading into the café. Ten years ago, there was a cashier’s counter to the extreme right of the entrance, a washroom in the right-hand corner and a kitchen in the left-hand corner. The positions of these haven’t changed over the years. There were two 3-seater tables, and one 2-seater, single seater and four-seater indoor tables each in the center of the restaurant.

These changed to four 8-seater and two 6-seater indoor tables in 5 years, while two outdoor tables were added to the left of the terrace. Indoor seating was further changed to four 8-seater, one 6-seater and one 4-seater tables, in present day floor plan because the indoor area was reduced to accommodate two more tables outdoors on the left and right of the terrace, respectively. IELTS bar graph time spent with parents

We have been given two floor plans that reflect the layout of a bookstore in 2000 and the changes made lately.

Overall, it can be seen that several shelves have been rearranged to make the layout more spacious and include a seating area for the readers.

To commence with the entrance continues to remain at the same place. So does the shelves containing the travel and new books, right in front of the entrance. There is no change to the service desk which was to the right of the entrance also. In comparison, major reshuffling has been observed to the left of the entrance. Earlier, fiction books occupied the entire wall to the left and half of the space opposite the entrance. The space to the left has now been divided into 4 sections for the art, hobbies, and cookery books that have been moved from the center of the room. The fiction books now only have a small section to the right of the cookery section.

Furthermore, non-fiction books now occupy the space on the left-hand corner opposite the entrance. A café has replaced the non-fiction section to the right of the entrance. Three circular tables with 4 chairs each are placed right outside the café, for readers to sit and read. (213 words)

Nelson Town

We have been given a pictorial representation of the city of Nelson, which reflects the changes done since 2000 and how it looks like today.

On the whole we can see that a considerable number of modifications have been done in infrastructure resulting in a modern, environment friendly city today.

Starting with the city center, a bicycle rental scheme has been introduced where cycles have been parked in the city center. The old market to the left of the city center has been converted into a new shop. The train station to the northwest of the city center has been demolished, and a new, modern train station has been constructed on the northern side of the city center. A new covered market has been built to the right of the city center.

A tramline connects the city center to the university building now. A hall of residence is constructed to the left of the university and a new shopping center to the right. The road to the south of the city center has been converted to a footpath for pedestrians.

The location of the university remains unchanged, so does the port near the sea. Facilities of a restaurant and bars and clubs have been provided on either side of the port in the new plan. (213 words)

We have been given a pictorial representation of the layouts of two training rooms one is a 10-seater room (Plan A) and the other can seat more people (Plan B).

Overall, we can see that furniture in the room that accommodates 10 people has been rearranged in order to facilitate seating of more people, and that is reflected in Plan B.

Starting with Plan A, the entrance door is on the North-East corner and the whiteboard is right next to the entrance. The presenter’s chair is beside the whiteboard. This has been modified in Plan B, as two whiteboards have been included near the entrance and the presenter’s chair is between them. The next major modification is the arrangement of the tables. In Plan A, they are arranged perpendicular to each other to form a U shape and the chairs are placed behind the tables. The revised plan has the tables placed apart from each other, one on the opposite side of the whiteboard and the other two on the either side, with chairs placed on both sides of the table.

The last change is in the location of the morning tea. In Plan A it is behind the tables while in Plan B it is is on the extreme right corner from the entrance. (215 words).

The map illustrates the changes that were made to a museum between 1998 and 2008.

Overall, it can be seen that many changes took place, the main one being the addition of a restaurant inside the museum and the relocation of certain rooms.

In 1998, the rectangular shaped museum building had a garden in the centre. This was widened a decade later, and beautified with some fountains. A café seating area was demarcated in the garden below the café to its north. There were permanent exhibition rooms to the east and west of the garden in 1998. This changed in 2008 as the whole east side was converted to permanent exhibition rooms.

Immediately to the south of the garden, there was the tickets and entrance/exit zone in 1998, with a shop to its right and a temporary exhibition room on the left. In the south east corner, there was a room for bags and coats, and a WC. The bags and coats room and the shop were shifted to the south west corner and the temporary exhibition room was moved northwards. In addition, a restaurant was made in the north west corner. The WC was also shifted to the east of the café. (203 words)

Topic: The maps below show changes to the ground floor plan of a university department in 2000 and 2015. Summarize the information and make comparisons where relevant.

Snow

We have been given a pictural representation of the modifications to the ground floor of a university department in 2015.

A glance at the image enables us to conclude that the added facilities post the renovation in 2015 has resulted in deforestation.

The main entrance to the building remains unchanged in both the years but the corridor beyond the entrance has been lengthened in 2015 to accommodate seminar rooms S4 above S2 on the north west and S5 above S3 on the north east. The trees outside the department to the north east have been cut down in 2015, and a new building has been constructed in that area.

The library below seminar room S3 has been shifted to the new building in 2015 and an IT center has been set up across the corridor, in front of the library. A car park has been constructed to the east of the main entrance in 2015. (155 words).

Shalton Village 1910
Shalton Village 2010

We have been given a pictorial representation of Shalton village, the way it looked in 1910 and its layout a century later.

Overall, it is evident that considerable infrastructural development has taken place in 100 years resulting in deforestation.

To commence with, the inner triangular section of the village had one large house to the north, flanked by trees, with a grocery shop in the south west and a bakery in the south east, between which there was another house. Major modifications look place in this area in a century resulting in the large house and bakery being demolished, trees cut, and a café replacing the grocery shop. A side road has been constructed into the area, from the main London Road to the west of the area, with houses on the either side, and also in the area occupied by the bakery.

The locations of the school and post office remain unchanged in 2010 but another side road branches out from the school road to connect to a structure with parking and a supermarket, in place of the butcher shop in 1910. A bank has replaced the house that existed in 1910, to the north west of the school road. More houses have also been constructed on the outer side of London Road and High Street in 2010. Topic:  The plans show how a coastal land has developed into a coastal park. Summarize the information and make comparisons where possible.

Coastal area before
Coastal area after

The given layout plan reflects the transformation of a coastal land into a coastal park.

Overall, it is evident from the images that efforts have been made to preserve the environment by planting more tree, in the process of converting the land into a pleasant park.

To commence with, there is a road branching out of the main road at the north of the land. Earlier, this road led to farm buildings. The redevelopment has replaced the farm buildings with a car park. Further, to the west of the farm buildings, there was unused land and a place for the animals. An artificial lake has been dug in this area for boating, and trees cover it periphery.

There was agricultural land to the east of the farm buildings in the coastal land. Afforestation has been undertaken in this area to convert it into woods. Also, a café has been added to the right of the side road before the car park.

Finally, a stairway has been added to connect the cliff with the beach in the south, so that people can relax under beach umbrellas on the beach or just walk or play on it. (194 words)
