Topic:  Due to advances in science and technology, the lifestyle of people everywhere in the world has become similar. Is this a positive or a negative development?

Lately, progress in science and technology has resulted in people living almost in the same way all around the world by using gadgets like Alexa to relax or apps and smart exercising devices to remain fit. According to me this is a positive development because our daily lifestyle becomes easy for us.

To initiate, considering the lifestyle changes that have been brought about because of science and technology, today many of the modern households have Alexa, a virtual assistant Artificial Intelligence technology developed by Amazon. Because of this technology, people are leading similar lifestyles as they have to just command Alexa to update them on the news or play their favourite songs, without having to turn on the TV or the music system on their own. There are also smart home appliances like refrigerators which are programmed to order milk and groceries. Such automated lifestyles give people more time to relax and stay updated with the world.

Further, fitness is another lifestyle aspect where people are adopting similar trends to monitor the amount they eat or exercise. For example, many people are using smart watches or gadgets like FITBIT which keeps track of the number of steps a person has walked in a day or the number of calories eaten or burnt in a day. Again, this is a positive development because such people take this to the next level by sharing their achievements in terms of the amount they exercised or the food they ate with their family and friends. They are able to support and motivate each other in their fitness programmes because of technology.

In conclusion, while it may seem that people are leading stereotype lifestyles due to advancements in science and technology, I feel the quality of people’s lives are definitely improving. Technology is certainly motivating people to relax more and become physically and mentally fit. (307 words).
