Topic:Some people say History is one of the most important school subjects. Other people think that, in today's world, subjects like Science and Technology are more important than History. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

There are many educationists who believe that history is the most significant subject at school because people can keep in touch with their roots. Others however argue that Science and Technology is a more crucial subject at school because science and technology will enable our further progress. Both these views are discussed in detail in the ensuing paragraphs along with my point of view which is that History along with Science and Technology can contribute to a more holistic education at school.

Considering the importance of History, the foremost arguments the supporters would state is that History ensures students' awareness regarding their culture and the sacrifices leaders and common men have made in the past to reach the progressive level they are at today. To exemplify, a country like India owes its current freedom and development to the freedom fighters who martyred themselves for their country´s independence struggle.

On the contrary, the latter view suggest that Science and Technology is a more vital subject at school because most of the inventions and innovations that have enabled a nation´s development is a result of these subjects. For instance, the technological advancements that has resulted in almost all the work being done using the internet today.

In my opinion, both subjects should be considered equally important at school but more priorities must be given to Science and Technology because the latter subjects are the once that create future job opportunities for the students.

In conclusion, schools should teach both subjects with equal eagerness, yet leave it to the child to decide which stream he/she would like to pursue. Schools however should point out that science and technology would be beneficial for a secure future. (271 words)
