Topic:The first man to walk on the moon said space exploration was going to change mankind´s life. Some people argue that it made only a little change to our lives. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Neil Armstrong, declared, post his unprecedented, historic “moon walk” that the study of space would revolutionize human existence, because he was sure astronomers and Astro Physicists would discover spectacular things in space and they did. Many however refute this statement, stating that only a minor effect have been noticed in our lives. I support the former statement as space exploration has impacted and will continue to affect our lives in leaps and bounds.

To initiate, post the launching of the space craft that led astronomers Neil Armstrong and his team to physically explore a part of the moon, space technology has grown in leaps and bounds, and human life has changed. Almost a decade after men walked on the moon, satellites were launched into space to facilitate communication, entertainment (in the form of Direct to Home satellite television), Global Positioning System, GPS, a satellite-based radionavigation system, and so on. I too agree with the fact that mankind´s lives have changed. Apart from having an International Space Station to closely study the universe, we are now looking towards space tourism as well as exploring alternate livable planets.

On the flipside though, many are of the opinion that considering the enormous money that has been spent on organizations like NASA, HAL and ISRO, to name a few, space exploration hasn´t impacted basic human life much. The satellites and space crafts´ haven´t been able to reduce the persisting problems of hunger, poverty, unemployment and so on.

To recapitulate, space certainly is a mystery. No doubt a lot of money is being spent in space exploration, that could have been put to better use, but we have benefited quite a bit and will continue to do so in the future too. (287 words).
