Topic:In some countries, there are not enough medical and educational facilities in rural areas. Some people believe newly graduated teachers and doctors should be sent to rural areas to work for some time, while others suggest that people should be free to choose a place to work. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

In many nations, basic necessities of healthcare and schools/colleges are not available in villages. Many are of the opinion that freshly passed out teachers and doctors must serve in the villages so they can gain some experience while improving the conditions there. Others however feel such services shouldn’t be mandatory and they should be allowed to decide where they want to work. In my opinion, the government should provide for such basic facilities instead of forcing fresh graduate teachers and doctors to work in rural areas.

To initiate, lack of basic healthcare and education facilities in rural areas is a common feature in many developing countries like India and under-developed countries in Africa. While the Indian government has made it mandatory for doctors to spend a year in villages treating the poor in primary healthcare facilities, many people feel teachers must also compulsorily serve in villages immediately after passing out so the poor can get some basic education. This will also expose the professionals to a world without proper amenities.

On the other hand, it is the responsibility of the government to provide basic education and healthcare facilities especially in the villages. They should not make it compulsory for fresh doctors and teachers to go and work there immediately after graduating. Instead, the government must provide more permanent health clinics, hospitals, schools and colleges so the rural people can benefit in the long run. I too am of the opinion that it is the governments responsibility to make sure people in the villages have access to good education and healthcare.

In conclusion, while it is a good practice to expose doctors and teachers to the rural environment once they graduate, serving in villages must not be made mandatory just because the government is not able to provide basic facilities to its people. Professionals, especially teachers and doctors should have the freedom to choose where they want to work, once they graduate. (319 words).
